Lip Filler Injections and IV Hydration Therapy in Fresno: What to Book First and Why

Individuals generally book an appointment for one main treatment at a med spa. Augment their lips or cause them to feel better from within. They don’t always seem to understand that some treatments work better when your body and mind are in a better state to accept them. That’s not a sales pitch. This is simply how skin and tissue respond to injectable medicine in low hydration.

Thus, if you’re considering whether lip filler injections and IV hydration therapy in Fresno are right for you, this post reviews the underlying science behind both treatments, how they work together, & which one to schedule first.

How Lip Filler Injections Work

Hyaluronic acid injections are administered to add volume, definition, or shape to the lips. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance your body already produces. It has glycol and hyaluronic acid to absorb water in the tissue, which is one of the reasons that lip filler injection results appear soft rather than hard (if placed properly).

With age, lips decrease in volume. The border flattens. The top lip gets thinner. Above the Mouth, Develop Line Lip filler injections solve all these problems by replacing what has gone with the right amount, not creating an entirely new visage. In fact, at Savage Serenity MedSpa in Fresno, we pride ourselves on natural-looking results that complement the patient’s face and its unique features instead of a one-size-fits-all answer.

In general, lip filler results last between 6 and 12 months, depending on the product and how quickly your body breaks down hyaluronic acid. Soft tissue fillers continue to be in the top five of the least invasive cosmetic procedures performed each year, according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.

What IV Hydration Therapy Does

IV hydration therapy involves the administration of fluids, vitamins, and minerals intravenously directly into your bloodstream. For your digestive system, none of it is processed absorption is instant and overall. It can take a lot longer to achieve tissue saturation with oral supplements and even plain water. However, IV therapy completely circumvents that process.

IV hydration options at Savage Serenity range from the LiquiLift, a strong mixture of vitamins and nutrients, to Fountain of Youth IV, targeting skin health, cellular healing, and regeneration. Then, there’s Vitamin C Hydration IV; Natural Defense formula for immunity concerns; recovery and dehydration options such as NAD+, Glutathione for patients’ growth-oriented or skin brightening.

Dehydration causes subtle, and often unnoticed, degradation of skin quality. The National Institutes of Health states that even mild dehydration decreases skin elasticity and causes fine lines to appear more prominent. If the tissue is dehydrated prior to filler, it may not integrate the product as seamlessly or maintain it over time.

So What Should You Book First?

The real answer is: it depends on how you book either.

If you are coming in for lip filler injections specifically and want to quickly support the result with IV hydration therapy, it makes sense that I would schedule your IV two days before your filler appointment. Injectables respond to more hydrated tissue better. Lips appear smoother after treatment as the product spreads more evenly.

Nonetheless, lip fillers and IV therapy are not conditional upon each other medically. You may have your lips done with or without IV Prep and still achieve a great result. Plenty of patients do. It simply gives your tissue a better foundation.

If you are not booking IV hydration therapy with any kind of filler, for instance, energy or recovery, skin quality, general wellness, all by itself…don’t need it, no reason to do a filler appointment at all! These are two different treatments and have few common goals.

How Dehydrated Lips Look In Reality

This begs to be addressed head-on because too many people don’t connect the dots. Deflated, wrinkling, or lackluster-looking lips are not always a sign of filler deficiency. Sometimes they’re lacking in hydration. After adequate hydration, the same lip that appeared flat and lined at the end of a rough week appears significantly fuller and more defined.

This does not mean IV therapy takes the place of filler. It doesn’t. Structural volume loss needs injection treatment. However, hydration plays a role in how that volume is displayed on the face, and patients who keep hydrated at their six-month follow-up often seem more satisfied with the changes over time.

Best of Both Worlds: Who Pockets More

However, this does not mean everyone requires IV hydration therapy prior to receiving lip filler injections. Others walk in from the street hydrated, and they recover almost automatically. However, some patients experience a substantial difference when they use both treatments together:

They recommend patients who travel often or live in places with dry heat, like the Central Valley of Fresno.

Patients who sweat regularly due to strenuous exercise and dehydration

People who feel that their filler results did not last as expected

Of those, some delivered information on something different (notably sensible treatments): patients were just as concerned about their general skin quality as they were with beauty treatments

People who have recently recovered or convalesced from illness, stress, or poor sleep

If you are one of these, it is definitely worth a conversation with your provider about getting an IV session as part of the plan for each appointment.

A Note on Timing

If you want to do both the same day, it will generally work. Some patients want to get their IV therapy first, allow the fluids to get absorbed, and then go to their lip filler appointment. Others schedule them separately. It all depends on your schedule and goals, so it is helpful to work with your provider here.

Fortunately, Angela Hash and the team at Savage Serenity MedSpa in Fresno provide both services under one roof, which makes overseeing them incredibly simple to coordinate. If you are 80% sure what sequence to take or which combination is ideal for your circumstances consulting is where you want to begin.
